How results have been communicated

The existing clinic FAQ says patients are not routinely called about normal laboratory results and should review them with their physician or nurse practitioner at the next appointment. It also notes that the clinic contacts patients for certain results that require action or monitoring.

Safe follow-up

  • Ask at the time of testing when and how to expect results.
  • Ensure the clinic has current contact information.
  • Arrange follow-up as directed by your clinician.
  • Do not assume that no call means every result is normal; the final clinic policy will clarify patient responsibilities.
  • Do not request or transmit confidential results through ordinary email.

If symptoms are worsening or urgent, call the clinic or seek appropriate urgent or emergency care rather than waiting for results.
